I am pleased to announce the success of the KZNBFA 2021 Honey Show, although we missed the Royal Show that normally surrounds our honey competition. The show was held from 19 – 22 May 2021.
The event was well supported and we hosted the Honey Judges Guild of South Africa (HJG) at a training day prior to the show. The HJG has been set up to train new stewards and honey judges which are skills we are severely lacking in this country.
KZNBFA is now well represented in the HJG as Kim McCall was appointed Learner Judge, Linnea Cooper was appointed Chief Steward and Amanda Bucknall was appointed Speciality Judge.
We had 25 exhibitors and 79 entries from 5 provinces. Champion jar (both National and KZN) was awarded to Hawthorn Hill with a mark of 98%.
